MISD Express Care Clinic

Midlothian ISD employees, their spouses and dependent children. Non-eligible workers include: substitutes, on-call workers, tutors, contracted services, and independent contractors. Please contact Employee Benefits confirm eligibility.

MISD employees do not have any additional step to take be seen at the clinic. However, dependent/spouse date must be updated in the MISD Third Party's Enroll System. 

Individuals may not be seen at the clinic unless they are registered as a dependent/spouse of the employee in the system. During Open Enrollment, which occurs each July, employees are asked to list all dependents and their spouses, even when declining the coverage.  Some employees have not listed all dependents and/or a spouse in the system.  These individuals will not be eligible for the clinic UNLESS they are added to the system.

If you plan to use the clinic for your dependents and/or spouse and have not entered them in the system during Summer Enrollment, please complete the MISD Express Care Clinic dependent form for the district to manually add them to the program (DOB/SSN are required). If dependents/spouse are updated in the system, no further action is required and the above form should not be completed.

For data security purposes, you may send the form via intercampus mail or deliver it in person to Human Resources, to the attention of Employee Benefits.

The MISD Express Care is located at the Methodist Hospital Professional Building, 979 Don Floyd Dr., Suite 110, Midlothian, Texas 76065

MISD Express Care clinic hours are Monday-Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the exception of major holidays; including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Day After Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. (Closures and hours are subject to change; it is a good idea to call before heading to the clinic)

The MISD staff clinic is a walk-in clinic, meaning employees do not schedule specific appointment times. However, there is an option to call ahead and schedule an in-person visit between 3 - 7pm or a virtual video visit between
8am - 8pm. The staff clinic personnel will collect the non-refundable visit fee of $10 and inform them of what time they will be seen by a provider, based on the number of patients to be seen that day.

Employees then have the option to wait at the clinic to be seen by a provider or return to the clinic at the time designated by the staff clinic personnel.

Occasionally, due to medical personnel availability, there are some days in which not all employees desiring to be seen will be able to visit a medical provider that same day.

Employees can access MISD Express Care virtual visits by calling (214) 933-5000 option 2 to request a visit. MISD Express Care virtual visits are staffed by Kelly Copeland, Nurse Practitioner, M-F, 8:00A-8:00P and cost $10 per completed visit payable by credit, debit, and HSA card.

When employees call they will be asked a few short questions and will be scheduled for a virtual video visit with a MISD Express Care medical provider.

*If deemed necessary during the video visit, for additional testing you may be asked to come to the clinic between 3 - 7pm.

If the employee does not meet criteria to be seen virtually, they will be referred out to be seen in-person by the MISD Express Care provider and the $10 fee will be reimbursed.

Yes, however the legal parent/guardian must complete the consent form and have the adult bring it with the child at the time of service. Additionally, adults must be over the age of 18. They will be required to make payment at the time of service and make any medical-related decisions on the employee's behalf during the visit.

Clinic and virtual visits are both only $10. Insurance is not necessary to receive care at MISD Express Care

The services at MISD Express Care clinic (including virtual visits) are offered outside of your existing insurance benefits and will not count towards insurance deductibles.

Insurance is not required to visit the MISD Express Care clinic. The clinic and virtual visits will not be filed with your insurance, so the $10 fee will not count toward your deductible.

There will be a certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) on duty at all times, as well as other medical staff to assist with basic duties. Nurse Practitioners are state licensed and nationally certified, advanced practice medical professionals. The Nurse Practitioner will be under the direct supervision of the MISD Express Care - Medical Director, Dr. Jeffrey M. McDaniel MD.

Only current full-time MISD employees are eligible for this benefit.

No, utilizing the MISD Express Care Clinic does not mean you have insurance.

Yes, the MISD Express Care fees are allowable expenses.

There is not an on-site pharmacy at the MISD Express Care clinic. Prescriptions will be sent to the pharmacy of your choice. Employees will be responsible to pay for their prescriptions.

The MISD Express Care clinic does not have x-ray equipment in the office. Patients will be referred to an outside source for x-ray, as necessary and at an additional cost.

Employees and family members are required to register in advance to receive care from MISD Express Care. Please contact MISD Human Resources Benefits Coordinator to confirm eligibility.

The clinic is not designed to replace your primary care physician.

The clinic has a limited number of spaces available per day, so your ability to be seen will be based on the number of patients that day and there is no guarantee there will be an available appointment. 

The virtual clinic is designed to treat a limited set of conditions. If you do not meet the criteria to be seen virtually, you will be referred out to be seen in-person by a medical professional when space is available.

• Employee legal spouse
• A child under the age of 26 (unmarried), who is one of the following:
  • A natural child, an adopted child, or a child who is lawfully placed for legal adoption
  • A stepchild
  • A foster child
  • A child under the legal guardianship of the employee
  • “Any other child” under the age of 26 (unmarried) in a regular parent-child relationship with the employee (other than a child described in the category immediately above), meeting ALL four of the following requirements:
    1. The child’s primary residence is the household of the employee;
    2. The employee provides at least 50% of the child’s support;
    3. Neither of the child’s natural parents resides in that household, and
    4. The employee has the legal right to make decisions regarding the child’s medical care.
• A grandchild under the age of 26 (unmarried) whose primary residence is the household of the employee and who is a dependent of the employee for federal income tax purposes for the reporting year in which coverage of the grandchild is in effect.

At the clinic we will strive, to the best of our ability, to diagnose and treat everyone who comes to the clinic regardless of ages.

Chronic seasonal allergies can be treated by the MISD Express Care Clinic unless further evaluation is needed at which point you will be referred to your Primary Care Physician. If you are experiencing a severe allergic reaction, please go to the nearest Emergency Department (ED) or call 9-1-1 immediately. 

School athletic physicals will not be offered at the clinic. MISD Athletics partners with local medical professionals to offer sports physicals at a low cost, and more information can be found on the MISD Athletics website.
 

MISD employees seeking treatment for a work-related injury must choose an in-network physician approved by our workers’ compensation carrier and will not be seen at the clinic. 

The MISD School Board approved the MISD Express Care in November 2018.
