Student Transfer Requests

We are excited that families are interested in Midlothian ISD. While we are not an open-enrollment district, we do offer a limited transfer opportunity for eligible students as outlined in Midlothian ISD School Board Policy FDA (LOCAL) and School Board Policy FDB (LOCAL),

Our goal is to make this process clear, supportive and easy to navigate for families exploring their options and who meet eligibility criteria.

Important Things to Know

  • Midlothian ISD is not an open enrollment district.
  • Transfer approval is based on space availability, taking into consideration instructional staff, school, and grade level each year.
  • Transfers may not always be assigned to the school nearest to their home due to limited enrollment space at the campus or grade level requested.
  • Transportation is not provided for transfer students.
  • A new application is required each school year.

We are MISD Proud that families seek out Midlothian ISD for the opportunities, relationships and enriching experiences we provide students every day. Thank you for considering MISD!

Let's Get Started!

Non-resident transfer request families will need the following documents to complete the application requests. Parents should obtain and submit the student’s official school records described below.

Full Student Discipline Records – If the applicant has no discipline records, the submission should include a letter from current school officials verifying this.

Student Attendance Records – Two years of attendance records (as applicable).

Full Academic Records –  Two years of academic records (report cards, state assessment results, etc), as applicable.  This information will be used to assess potential staffing needs.

Submission Steps

  1. Gather the discipline, attendance and academic documents described above from current and/or previous schools and have them ready in digital format to upload within the application. These documents can be obtained from your campus. Only uploaded documents on the application form will be considered for eligibility.
  2. Repeat the full process for any additional students seeking a transfer.
  3. A response letter will be sent to the email address used to submit the application once the application has been considered and eligibility documents have been analyzed. The letter will indicate acceptance, denial or wait list status.
