Text Messages
Parents can sign up to receive text alerts
MISD schools utilizes a platform called School Messenger/Skylert to send text alerts and email notifications, straight to your device with important information and newsletters about events, school closings, safety alerts and more.
How to sign up for text alerts and emails
You can opt in to text alerts just by sending a text message of “Y” or “YES” to our MISD short code number, 67587. You can also opt out of the text service at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “STOP.” You can also unsubscribe to email notifications at anytime, but it is not recommended to ensure parents to do not miss important alerts.
Please note School Messenger uses “short code” messaging, which is not standard on all cell phone data plans. You may need to contact your wireless provider to ask them to turn on short code messaging capabilities. Once that is done, please text “Y” again to 67587. You should receive a confirmation text reply. The text alert system is free. Participants may be charged for text messages according to their wireless carrier plan.
Parents whose children previously attended another school district that utilized School Messenger may have already opted in to receive text messages from the School Messenger platform, and will be ready to receive texts from MISD as long as the phone number is correctly listed in Skylert.
Parents and guardians are automatically signed up to receive emails.
What to do if I’m no longer receiving text alerts or emails?
If you believe you have opted into the text alert feature and are not receiving text messages, go to your Skyward Family Access account and click on “Skylert” to verify your contact information. Update information if needed and allow 24 hours for our systems to recognize your changes. You should begin receiving text alerts and emails.
If you unsubscribed to receiving email notification please complete this form (https://forms.gle/3sUmoWnjT7S7cpx27) to re-activate your email notifications.
