6th Grade Intro to Theatre

This introductory course in theatre provides students with opportunities to participate in creative dramatics through characterizations, role-playing, and storytelling. Students will learn basic acting technique, theatre terminology, improvisation and the skills necessary to prepare for a performance. We will focus on artistic expression through physical and vocal activities, games, and performances.

Theatre I and II

The focus of this course is on interpretation and performance as students gain a more in-depth understanding of theatrical elements and principle. We will begin to examine scripts and learn basic acting techniques. Through reading scripted materials, students analyze characters, study dialogue, and design stage movements to solve theatrical problems.

Theatre Production

This course is available through Audition only and the prerequisite for this course is Theatre Arts I and/or teacher approval. This class will build upon the foundations of Theatre I and II but will explore play production more in-depth through application and public performance. This class will produce several performances a year, typically one in the fall and one in the spring. The spring play will be entered in the UIL One-Act Play competition and students must remain UIL eligible (passing all classes) to participate in the competition.
