Virtual Learning Enrollment

Choosing the right learning environment is an important decision every family makes. Midlothian ISD Virtual Learning offers eligible students in grades 9-12 a flexible, full-time online learning pathway designed to meet individual needs while remaining connected to the excellence, support and trusted educational experience families expect from MISD.

Whether your student is seeking greater flexibility, a personalized program provides another pathway to success. This page will guide families through the enrollment process, program standards and expectations, and important next steps as you explore whether virtual learning is the right fit for your student.

Important Things to Know

MISD's virtual learning program is a full-time online learning option for students in grades 9-12 who reside within MISD boundaries or qualify through approved transfer guidelines.

Students enrolled in virtual learning will:

Learn through a full-time online instructional model
Participate in virtual cohort engagement opportunities designed to help students stay connected
Remain connected to their zoned high school for transcripts and state testing
Continue to have access to district support services
Continue to be able to attend as a spectator school sponsored events like football, basketball, and similar activities.

Every student learns differently. For some students, a full-time virtual learning environment provides the flexibility, independence and personalized pace they need to thrive. For others, a traditional in-person setting may be the best path to success.

At Midlothian ISD, we believe excellence does not look the same for every learner. Our virtual learning option is designed for students who are motivated, responsible, and prepared to take an active role in their education while remaining connected to the support and high expectations experienced in MISD.

As you explore whether virtual learning is the right fit, consider the following questions together as a family:

Does my student stay motivated without frequent reminders?
Can my student manage assignments and deadlines independently?
Is my student comfortable communicating with teachers virtually?
Does my student work well in a structured online environment?
Is my student prepared to spend significant instructional time on a device?

Does our family have a consistent home environment that supports online learning?

Families interested in virtual learning are encouraged to complete the Virtual Learning Interest Declaration Form. The form is not a formal application for enrollment, but rather a planning tool to help the district better understand anticipated participation and prepare staffing and program supports for the fall semester.

INFORMATION NIGHT: JUNE 9
Additional program details, enrollment procedures and application information will be shared during a Virtual Learning Information Night scheduled for Tuesday, June 9 at 6 p.m. at the MISD Administration Building.

At this meeting, families will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the program before enrolling in virtual learning. Families who complete the interest declaration form will receive a reminder invitation to attend. The meeting will be held in person. For those unable to attend the meeting in-person, the district will record the meeting for on-demand viewing.
