About LEAP Academy
LEAP Academy is a flexible, student-centered high school program designed to support learners who benefit from a non-traditional schedule and a personalized approach to earning their diploma. At Midlothian ISD, we believe every student deserves a clear path to graduation that adapts to life's changing circumstances and keeps them in school.
LEAP Academy provides students with the opportunity to continue progressing through their high school coursework in a setting that offers greater flexibility to help students earn a diploma and achieve further success after high school.
Students enrolled in the LEAP Academy complete all Texas graduation requirements including required courses and credits, STAAR testing, and district specific expectations and requirements. All students earn an endorsement and demonstrate college, career, or military readiness to ensure they are prepared for success beyond high school.
LEAP Academy maintains rigorous academic standards while recognizing that students thrive in different learning environments. Each student works with staff to develop an individualized graduation pathway that serves as a clear blueprint toward earning a diploma. Students attend a four-hour instructional session each school day and complete coursework through an online learning platform. Most students graduate with 26 credits, and endorsement, and a strong foundation for their next steps.
Please note that LEAP Academy is NOT designed for early graduation. Students interested in early graduation should speak with their counselor at Midlothian High School or Midlothian Heritage High School, as that process is separate from LEAP.
We invite you to learn more about the application process for LEAP Academy by reviewing the Qualification and Application Process. Families interested in exploring this option for their student are encouraged to contact the student's counselor at Heritage or Midlothian High School.
