Tell readers immediately what the information is about.

Example: Elementary Family Night July 4

It tells the reader what it is, elementary family night, and provides a date.

Include the essential information from your flyer or graphic in paragraph form. Strive to include at least three to six sentences. The length is determined by the amount of information you are striving to share.

Be sure to answer:

• What is happening?
• Who needs to know?
• When is it happening?
• Where is it happening?
• What action should the reader take?

If families need to register, make a payment, complete a form or learn more, provide the direct web link within the written content and use clear descriptive statements for the link.

Don't rely only on a QR code. They can remain on graphics, but digital communications should also provide a clickable link outside the graphic.

Example of a descriptive URL clickable link: 
Complete the MISD Content Submission Form to submit your flyer for publication consideration.

The link tells the reader where the link will send them, to the content submission form.

Submit the file as a JPG if it is an image and PNG for flyers or graphics. The image, graphic or flyer should support and reinforce the message. It should not replace the written information.

Remember to submit a clear written paragraph that tells the reader all the information you are sharing in your flyer.

Ask yourself, "If someone could not see this image, what would they need to know?" Keep the descriptions concise and focus on the purpose or meaningful content of the image.

Example for a promotional flyer: Graphic for Family Literacy Night. Event details and registration information are provided in the accompanying text.
