Trustees Call for November Bond Election to Address Growth, Student Programs, and Infrastructure.

Trustees Call for November Bond Election to Address Growth, Student Programs, and Infrastructure.

At Tuesday night's school board meeting, trustees voted 7-0 to call a bond election to appear on the November 4 ballot. Voters who live within the boundaries of Midlothian ISD will be asked to consider a $389,220,000 package that would provide funding to address growth and conditions at existing facilities, a new Career and Technical Education center, and upgrades to technology infrastructure. The bond package also includes the purchase of buses, land, and technology devices.

This bond proposal is based on a recommendation made by the Facilities Planning Committee, which consisted of 80 citizens who live within MISD. Community members met six times over three months to study facility conditions, district finances, and toured campuses to ultimately put forward a bond package that would address the district’s most immediate facility needs.

“I would like to thank the members of the Facility Planning Committee who spent many hours working together to develop a recommendation that they presented to the board as representatives of our community,” said Superintendent Dr. David Belding. “Their diverse perspectives were thoughtful as they studied and prioritized possible projects outlined in the proposal.”
