Retiring Trustee Tami Tobey honored for her service, Place 6 and 7 Trustees sworn in

At its May 18 meeting, the Midlothian ISD Board of Trustees officially welcomed new trustee Brandi Vess to Place 6 and swore in incumbent trustee Ed Harrison for a second term in Place 7. Vess succeeds longtime trustee Tami Tobey, who served three terms on the Board after being elected in 2017.

During her tenure, Tobey helped guide the district through several significant milestones, including the completion of projects tied to Bond 2016, the Covid-19 pandemic, the selection and transition of Superintendent Dr. David Belding, ongoing state funding and budget challenges, and the successful passage of Bond 2025. Tobey also served as Board President from May 2022 through May 2024, helping lead the district during a period of continued growth and strategic planning.

Midlothian ISD is grateful for Mrs. Tobey's years of dedicated service and leadership. She consistently put students first, advocated for excellence, and helped guide important decisions that will positively impact students and staff for years to come.

The district also welcomed Vess as the newest Board of Trustees member. As Place 6 trustee, she will join the seven-member board in helping guide district priorities, policies and long-range planning efforts focused on student success.

Trustees also elected board officers for the 2026-27 year. Ryan Timm will continue to serve as Board President, Jessica Ward was elected to serve as Board Vice President and John Knight as the Board Secretary.
