MISD high schools earn College Board AP School Honor Roll recognition

Both of Midlothian ISD's high schools have been recognized on the College Board's 2025 AP School Honor Roll, highlighting their commitment to expanding access to Advanced Placement courses and supporting students on the path to college success.

Heritage High School and Midlothian High School each earned Bronze recognition, marking the first year both campuses have received this honor. The AP School Honor Roll, launched in 2023, recognizes schools that have successfully increased access to AP courses while maintaining or improving student performance on AP exams.

The qualification criteria, based on the most recent graduating class, includes:

  • College Culture: 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least 1 AP Exam during high school,
  • College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam during high school, and
  • College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took 5 or more AP Exams during high school. At least 1 of those exams was taken in 9th or 10th grade, so that students are spreading their AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any single year.

Research shows that students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. For students who earn college credit, AP courses can accelerate graduation and build confidence for college-level work. Even for those who do not earn credit, AP coursework provides early exposure to rigorous academic expectations and contributes to a college-going experience within the school.

MISD congratulates both campuses and celebrates the hard work of its staff, students and families who make AP success possible.
