Midlothian ISD continues upward trajectory in state accountability ratings

District climbs seven points in three years and six schools earn A rating

Preliminary state accountability ratings for 2026 released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) show that Midlothian ISD demonstrates upward growth, earning an overall score of 89, which is a seven-point increase from the district’s score of an 82 three years ago. The score earns the district a B rating and places MISD one point away from an A rating. Campuses across the district also earned nine academic distinctions, up from six last year.

Both Midlothian Heritage High School and Midlothian High School earned A ratings. The number of campuses earning an A rating doubled from last year. Six campuses earned a rating of A, three earned a B, four earned a C and none of Midlothian ISD’s schools earned a D or F rating. Final accountability ratings will be published later this fall.

“We are really proud of the progress reflected in this year’s accountability results and more importantly, what that means for our students,” said Superintendent Dr. David Belding.“ Moving the district’s score seven points over three years demonstrates sustained growth and the collective commitment by our students, teachers, principals, staff and families.” 

The 2026 accountability system largely maintains the methodology and performance standards established through the state’s 2023 accountability refresh. This provides a consistent framework for comparing performance and growth over time. 

Nearly every MISD graduate, 98% of the Class of 2025, demonstrated college, career or military readiness under the state’s accountability measures. The same graduating class achieved a 98.2% four-year graduation rate. CCMR recognizes multiple pathways for students to demonstrate readiness for life after school, including college-level achievement, dual credit, industry certifications, career and technical education and military readiness.

Belding said the results also reflect the district’s continued instructional focus on meeting the needs of individual learners. “While no single rating can fully capture the quality of our schools or the many ways our students grow and succeed, these results provide meaningful evidence of our progress. They also reinforce that our focus on knowing each student, differentiating instruction and providing the support each learner needs is making a difference. We celebrate this progress and will continue to challenge ourselves to grow, close achievement gaps and ensure every student is prepared for what comes next.”

In addition to the overall ratings, Midlothian ISD campuses earned nine academic distinctions from TEA, highlighting excellence in specific areas and growth categories, beyond achieving an overall acceptable rating.
