MISD climbs in Best High Schools rankings

We are MISD Proud to announce that Heritage and Midlothian High Schools have been ranked among the top 40% Best High Schools for 2025 by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings evaluate nearly 18,000 schools at the national, state and local level. The rankings highlight schools across the country where students consistently demonstrate academic excellence.

Within Texas, the U.S. News and World Report ranks Heritage High School at No. 372, up 30 spots from last year and Midlothian High School at No. 509, climbing 11 spots.  Both campuses are recognized in the top 25% of high schools in Texas, according to the report. Heritage Principal Ketura Madison said "We are thrilled that for the third consecutive year, HHS has been recognized by the U.S. News and World Report as one of the Best High Schools in the nation. We are incredibly proud of this achievement, as it reflects our commitment to excellence."

Dr. Amanda Rodgers, Midlothian High School Principal, said, " We are proud to be recognized as one of the Best High Schools in the nation. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our outstanding staff and the exceptional achievements of our students."

The methodology focuses on six factors: college readiness; reading, math and science proficiency; reading, math and science performance; underserved student performance; college curriculum breadth; and graduation rates.
