Midlothian ISD’s state accountability rating increases to 87 following CCMR appeal
MHS earns an A rating and HHS increases its score to an 89
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will release final 2025 district and campus-level accountability ratings on its website later this week. Changes are expected to be made to the TEA website on December 11. The final ratings for Midlothian ISD include a notable increase in campus scores at both MISD high schools, which also increased the district’s overall score to an 87.
Midlothian High School’s final overall campus rating is now an “A” with a score of 92, bringing the total number of A-rated MISD schools to three. With the results of the appeal, Heritage High School's overall rating increased eight points to an 89. The increase in final scores at the two high schools and for MISD are the result of a granted appeal that the district filed this fall with TEA regarding its College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) data, which assess how well students are prepared for success beyond high school.
“I am proud of the hard work our two high schools are doing around CCMR and academic excellence,” said Superintendent Dr. David Belding. “The final ratings are a true reflection of the strength of our instructional programs at all levels, pre-k through 12, and demonstrate how prepared our students are at every step of their educational journey. We appreciate everyone's support of students and their academic success. Our schools remain focused on providing a strong academic experience that prepares students today to change the world tomorrow.”
State accountability ratings are based on multiple domains of performance. Both Midlothian and Heritage High Schools earned an A in Domain 1 (Student Achievement), highlighting the academic achievement of MISD students. “These final ratings indicate true performance of our high school students and speak to the quality of the student experience offered in Midlothian ISD,” said Chief Academic Officer Shelle Blaylock.
According to the final ratings, 85% of Midlothian ISD campuses earned an A or B rating, with nine of the district’s 13 rated schools improving their scores over the past two years. Overall, the district earned a rating of 87 (B), with three campuses rated an A, eight rated B, and two rated C. None of Midlothian ISD’s schools earned a D or F rating.
