Midlothian ISD names Kyle Murphy assistant principal of McClatchey Elementary

Midlothian ISD has named Dr. Kyle Murphy as the new assistant principal of McClatchey Elementary School. Murphy succeeds Dr. Bradley Pennington, who recently accepted a principal position with another school district.

Murphy brings more than 15 years of experience in public education, including roles as a campus data analyst, Title I teacher, literacy interventionist, administrator intern, clinical supervisor, and elementary classroom teacher. Throughout her career, she has focused on improving student achievement through strong instructional practices, teacher coaching, literacy development, and data-driven decision making.

Most recently, Murphy served as a Campus Data Analyst in Fort Worth ISD, where she worked closely with campus leadership teams to analyze student performance data, support instructional planning, and coordinate state and district assessment programs. She has also played key leadership roles in Professional Learning Communities, teacher development, and support systems designed to meet the needs of diverse learners.

“Kyle brings a strong combination of instructional expertise, leadership experience, and a student-centered mindset that will be a tremendous asset to our school community,” said McClatchey Elementary Principal Alisha Cunningham. “Her commitment to supporting teachers, building relationships, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed aligns well with the values and vision of Midlothian ISD. We are excited to welcome her to our leadership team.”

Murphy holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Language and Literacy Studies from the University of North Texas, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. She also holds a Texas Principal as Instructional Leader certification.

“As both an educator and a parent, I truly believe that strong relationships are the foundation of a successful school community,” Murphy said. “I’m excited to get to know our students and families, build meaningful connections, and work together to help every child grow, learn, and feel supported. I believe the best things happen when schools and families collaborate, and I can’t wait to be a part of that partnership.”

Murphy will begin serving in her new role this summer and will work alongside campus staff to prepare for the 2026-27 school year.
