Midlothian ISD announces new leadership appointments

Midlothian ISD is proud to announce two leadership appointments that will strengthen student opportunities and campus success as the district prepares for the upcoming school year.

Midlothian Heritage High School welcomes new assistant principal
Midlothian ISD has selected Ashley Evans to join the campus administration team at Midlothian Heritage High School as an assistant principal, bringing an accomplished instructional leader with extensive experience in curriculum development, campus leadership and teacher coaching to the Jaguar family.

Evans joins Midlothian ISD after serving in leadership roles across Duncanville ISD and Grand Prairie ISD. Most recently, she served as Dean of Instruction at a middle school in Grand Prairie ISD, where she led campus improvement initiatives, supported instructional programs and partnered with teachers to strengthen student outcomes. Throughout her career, Evans has focused on improving student achievement through instructional excellence, strategic planning and leadership development. She fills the Heritage High School position previously held by Jeremy Dearborn, who was recently promoted to Associate Principal at Midlothian Heritage High School following Jimmy Spradley's appointment as Midlothian ISD's Assistant Athletic Director.

"Ashley is an exceptional instructional leader whose passion for students, commitment to excellence and collaborative leadership style make her an outstanding addition to our campus," said Heritage High School Principal Ketura Madison. "She understands that strong relationships and high expectations go hand in hand, and her experience supporting both teachers and students will strengthen the incredible work already happening at Heritage. We are excited to welcome her to the Jaguar family and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our school community."

Evans earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and a Master of Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy from The University of Texas at Arlington. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in literature, history and science from UT Arlington.

"Throughout my career, I have learned that great schools are built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to students. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join Heritage High School and look forward to investing in the people who make this community so special while building upon its proud tradition of academic excellence and Jaguar pride,” said Ashley Evans.

As assistant principal, Evans will work alongside the Heritage High School leadership team to support academic achievement, student engagement, campus culture and operational excellence while helping prepare students for success beyond high school.

Cameron Washington joins Midlothian High School as Head Boys Basketball Coach
Coach Washington joins Midlothian High School after serving as the Assistant Head Boys Basketball Coach at Little Elm High School, where he played an integral role in the growth and success of one of the premier programs in North Texas. During his tenure, Little Elm captured the 2025-26 UIL 6A Division II State Championship, finishing with an outstanding 37-2 overall record, including a perfect 14-0 district championship season. He was also part of a staff that guided the Lobos to the Regional Semifinals during the 2024-25 season.

A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Kinesiology, Washington brings a strong background in player development, program building, leadership, and community engagement. His coaching experience spans high school and middle school athletics, where he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court.

Throughout the interview process, Coach Washington distinguished himself with a clear vision for sustaining championship-level success while building meaningful relationships with students, parents, coaches, and the broader community. His philosophy centers on accountability, discipline, teamwork, and creating an environment where student-athletes can excel academically, athletically, and personally.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Washington and his family to Midlothian ISD," said Athletic Director Rusty Purser. "Throughout the process, Cameron demonstrated a passion for developing young men, a commitment to excellence, and a vision that aligns with the tradition and expectations of Midlothian High School basketball. We believe he is the right leader to build upon the strong foundation already established within our program.

Coach Washington will assume leadership of a Panther basketball program with a rich tradition of success that competes in one of the most challenging districts in Texas. He is eager to connect with current players, families, alumni, youth basketball participants, and community supporters as he begins the next chapter of Midlothian High School Boys Basketball.
