Methodist Midlothian and MISD nominated for a D Magazine Excellence Award

Methodist Midlothian has been named a finalist by D Magazine for the prestigious D CEO Excellence in Healthcare Award for Outstanding Healthcare Collaboration. This recognition celebrates Methodist Midlothian's ongoing partnership with Midlothian ISD to advance healthcare education for high school students in North Texas. This honor is one of six finalist designations for the Methodist Health System in the 2024 D CEO Excellence in Healthcare Awards program.

Over the past four years, this collaboration has enabled hundreds of MISD Health Science students to gain firsthand exposure to the healthcare industry through job shadowing, hands-on training, and career exploration. Central to these efforts is the hospital's annual "MISD Medical Symposium," where students practice skills such as suturing wounds, reading EKGs and even operating a Da Vinci surgical robot. The symposium is supported by a dedicated team of physicians, nurses and medical staff who contribute over 150 volunteer hours each year to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.

With a proven impact, the partnership has influenced more than 500 students, led to a 95% healthcare-focused career pursuit rate among graduates, and has even seen several program alumni enter the workforce as certified healthcare professionals. Through this unique collaboration that has provided MISD students over 13,000 hours of on-site learning at the hospital, Methodist Midlothian and MISD continue to shape a robust future for healthcare right here in Midlothian, in Ellis County and across North Texas.
