Bond Progress: Board approves student device purchase
The Midlothian ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of new student technology devices as part of the district’s Bond 2025 program during the June board meeting. The action puts in motion the technology investments funded through the Bond Program and outlined in Proposition C.
District leaders shared that the recommendation was informed by feedback from the MISD Teacher Technology Cohort that met this spring. Over the course of two months, approximately 60 staff members, including mostly teachers, met to discuss technology priorities, develop strategies for effective device use, and define needs related to instructional success in the classroom.
The purchase will replace aging student devices across the district to support teaching and learning. The board’s action also includes the authorization to sell existing devices through a consignment process to maximize the value of current equipment.
Proposition C allocates $5.6 million for the purchase of student and teacher devices. These funds are to replace devices that have reached the end of their lifecycle or are beyond repair, as well as purchase new devices to serve the district’s growing enrollment needs.
The investment is part of Bond 2025’s commitment to maintaining reliable technology resources for students and staff while supporting instructional goals across the district. The bond funding financing structure for the purchase is aligned with the expected lifespan of the devices.
